Plank flooring, commonly employed for ‘hardwood floors’, uses interlocking planks in series to form a continuous floor surface. Utilihab accommodates this form of flooring in the form of non-adhesive ‘click’ type floating floor planking used in combination with the flush subfloor panel. Preferable thickness is 8mm (5/16”) used with a 3mm (1/8”) underlayment, preferably of natural cork. Plank flooring has the limitation that it must be specially cut to length to accommodate partitions but, because of the grid geometry, most planking will conform in length to uniform divisions of the common structural bay spans of 1000mm, 2050mm, 310mm, 4150mm, 5200mm, and 6250mm. This will allow much of the planking to be reusable, assuming a consistent layout pattern.
