The basic form of radiant floor systems employs the permanent installation of PEX tubing in a folded loop array, most commonly under a concrete floor slab but sometimes under wood floors mounted on the underside of the sub-floor or even with floating floor plank systems using a modular riser tile. Standard Utilihab flooring employs the use of reflector panels that take the place of the standard under-floor panels and allow a PEX tubing coil to be clipped into place on these panels. For shallow floors based on the lighter standard framing, spacer and main joist profiles in the standard floor grid include pass-through holes allowing the PEX tubing to be threaded through the floor grid.
